SEA Changes

Sea Changes (1999)
... is the beautiful swan song of the co-led group Lammas
, which ran for ten years, winning several awards for so successfully blending contemporary jazz with aspects of Celtic folk. The partnership of poet/guitarist Don Paterson and Garland creates many magical moods, sometimes playing as a duet, sometimes augmented with the deep and plaintive voice of Christine Tobin, also with Karen Street on accordion.
The CD is available from amazon.co.uk.

Over the ten years that Tim Garland and Scottish acoustic guitar enigma Don Paterson have been playing together, their sound, as Chris Parker of the Times put it "Sounds like Lammas, and Lammas alone".

The fifteen numbers follow each other like movements of the same work, moving from the groove based "The Campout" featuring the funky sub base of the Udu and Bodhran percussion through three etherial versions of a beautiful and cinematic chorale, which are spaced throughout. Christine Tobin's vocals once again contributes,( often wordlessly), to several tracks including Patersons mesmerising Spanish song "The Water In The Rock".
